Proponents of comprehensive Hinduism, pioneers of the concept of Hinduism, Swatantraveer V.D. Savarkar's birth place Bhagur city. Bhagur city is located in Nashik district which is known as a pilgrimage site of entire India. Bhagur city is located on Darna River which is a tributary of Godavari River known as South Ganga of India. The history of Bhagur city is related to the glorious history of Maharishi Bhrigu Rishi, Bhrigu Rishi was the son of Brahma. Who composed the great astrology text “Bhrigu Samhita”.The area where Bhrigu Rishi practiced sadhana and established a Gurukul in Dandakarana came to be known as Bhagur. Legend has it that Bhrigu sages wrote Rigveda, Atharvaveda, Bhrigu Ayurveda Samhita, Bhrigu Smriti, Bhrigu Gita etc. Bhagur was named Bhargava due to Bhrigu Rishis and later became Bhagur. The area where Bhrigu Rishi practiced sadhana and established a Gurukul in Dandakarana came to be known as Bhagur. Legend has it that Bhrigu sages wrote Rigveda, Atharvaveda, Bhrigu Ayurveda Samhita, Bhrigu Smriti, Bhrigu Gita etc. Bhagur was named Bhargava due to Bhrigu Rishis and later became Bhagur.

Later, Bhagur became known because of the Savarkar family. Due to Savarkar and his fellow fighters during the freedom movement, the village was always like a camp as there was always a presence of British police in Bhagur.
The house of freedom fighter Savarkar has become a national monument. Bhagur also has a park named after Savarkar. Nearby is the school where Savarkar studied up to class IV. Near here is the famous Renuka Devi temple of Bhagur. Ram Mandir, Hanuman Mandir, Mahadev Mandir and Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in the village are worth seeing.
It is clear that Bhagur has been a mine of knowledge, wealth, penance and warriors since ancient times.
Municipal council of Bhagur city with such historical, political, freedom struggle, mythological heritage was established on 1st October, 1925. According to the 2011 census, the population of this city is 12353.
Geographically, Bhagur city has an area of 0.67 square kilometers and there is a railway line of Mumbai-Bhusawal Central Railway in the north. Cantonment is an army camp to the north of the city.
Bhagur city has been successful in getting many awards such as district level department level first and state level second under Sant Gadgebaba Urban Cleanliness Mission of the government level.
